   1 The following is a list of files and features that are going to be
   2 removed from the U-Boot source tree.  Every entry should contain what
   3 exactly is going away, when it will be gone, why it is being removed,
   4 and who is going to be doing the work.  When the feature is removed
   5 from U-Boot, its corresponding entry should also be removed from this
   6 file.

  13 Why:    We have a boards.cfg file which the vast majority of boards have
  14         converted over to.  Boards that still manually run mkconfig in the
  15         top level Makefile are either dead, or the maintainer doesn't care,
  16         or they are doing something weird/wrong that should be fixed in a
  17         different way, or they need to extend boards.cfg syntax (unlikely).

  19         In any case, if no one cares about these boards to figure out how
  20         to make boards.cfg work, then we'll just punt them.

  29 Why:    U-boot currently implements two network driver APIs.  New drivers with
  30         the older-style implementation have not been accepted for a while, and
  31         this parallel system makes the code confusing and hard to augment.

  33         All existing in-tree boards will be converted to use CONFIG_NET_MULTI
  34         over the span of two releases (2009-07 and 2009-09).
  35         In the 2009-11 release, all code that is compiled when CONFIG_NET_MULTI
  36         is not set will be removed, and all references to CONFIG_NET_MULTI
  37         will be removed, effectively making it the only API.  This should
  38         provide ample time for out-of-tree users to adjust, and for tools on
  39         all architectures to be made to work with weak functions.

  47 Why:    Over time, a couple of files have sneaked in into the U-Boot
  48         source code that are either missing a valid GPL license
  49         header or that carry a license that is incompatible with the
  50         GPL.
  51         Such files shall be removed from the U-Boot source tree.
